Empties : Affordable Favs + Trying Revolution Skincare

Flower Beauty Hydrating Setting Spray –
Although the price of this is irresistable, I think there are other affordable setting sprays that perform way better for a couple dollars more. The formula was nothing to write home about, but what really ruined the experience was the way it dispersed product. It would often spit out pea size droplets that were hard to remove, disrupting any product in its vicinity.

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist –
This setting spray really lived up to my expectations. It’s no secret that this product has the most gentle and fine mister, but the formula is performs well and it has a fresh subtle scent. The only downside is that you go through it so quickly! I felt like I used this for two weeks, and this could be because I like to drench myself after every layer, but I will probably won’t be purchasing it.

Revolution Conceal & Define –
I put off buying this product for so long as I thought it was just another product pretending to be shape tape, but I wish I hadn’t!! This goes above and beyond being a dupe, as it has the full coverage finish like tartes best seller, yet it blends better and provides a satin finish. I’d recommend this for all skin types and anyone on the hunt for an affordable medium to full coverage concealer. P.s, it’s GREAT as an eyeshadow base and/or for a cut crease.

Australis Banana Powder Mini –
I purchased this mini banana powder when I was working fashion week, as my undereyes started to show the effects of the high paced environment. It’s safe to say this became a staple in my collection as it provides a sheer wash of brightness without looking incredibly yellow and powdery. I would definately repurchase in the future if need be.

Loreal Baby Roll Mascara –
This mascara has been one of my favourites for over two years now, and if I wasn’t on the hunt for a good cruelty free dupe, I’d already have a backup ready to go. This product has a rubber bristle brush that lifts and curls the lashes, whilst adding a subtle amount of volume, which is everything I desire. One of the best things about Loreal mascaras is that their formulas are dry in the best way possible! They instantly define and hold all day.

Revlon Colourstay Skinny Liner –
Regardless of how many affordable liquid liners I try, I always find myself going back to this one. Revlon has absolutely perfected a good liner formula, and this one in particular glides on effortlessley with a longlasting matte finish. I love the long felt tip brush as it gives you control and stability! It also doesn’t claim to be waterproof, but it’s the best I’ve found for watery eyes.

Colourpop Supernova Shadow –
These liquid eyeshadows have unfortunatley been discontinued, and it may have something to do with the bad reviews they got. But seeing as though it is the only liquid shadow I’ve ever used up, it shows that I really enjoyed them. I love a good bronze all over the lid for an easy but glam night out look, and this served me well!

Mecca Max Brow Pencil –
I don’t think this brow pencil did me much good as I don’t remember any defining qualities about it! And to be completely honest, I don’t tend to dabble in high end brow pencils much as they just aren’t worth it anymore. Rimmel, Australis and Maybelline have some great, if not just as good, brow products and ranges.

Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel –
If you read my skincare routine blog post, you’d know that this cleanser completely cleared my ance prone skin. But that is just one of the many things it has done for me! I thought this was the last bottle I was going to finish up because I wanted to transition to organic/cruelty free skincare, but my skin hasn’t reacted well to the new products and broke out in bumps. By simply including this cleanser back into my routine it has significantly reduced my breakouts and bumps, whilst also controlling my oil production and sensitivity to other products.

Glam Glow Thirstymud Mask –
This was gifted to me by my friend, as she found it didn’t do enough for her dry skin. I believe this is a great pick me up for dehydrated skin, but not necessarily worth the high pricepoint.

Dr. Lewinns Micellar Cleansing Wipes –
I don’t often use makeup wipes as I switched to oil cleansers/face halo’s to be concious of my ethical consumption, but when I do, these are the ones I go for. They are the only makeup wipes that don’t dry out the skin or pull and tug at the eye area! The rich vitamin infused formula works to melt your makeup, leaving no residue behind.

Revolution Skin Hyluronic Acid –
This product is almost identical to the ordinary’s equivalent, there is only a slight difference in texture, yet they both provide similar results. Revolutions is slightly thicker and dense, but I was very happy with the hydration it provided!

Revolution Skin Hydrating Gel Cream –
The name says it all really! This moisturiser has a gel texture and sinks into the skin super quickly. These consistancys are great for oily skin types as they dont add a heavy layer, but ensure to provide a barrier over the skin resulting in less oil production.

Revolution Skin Night Restore Oil –
This was the first product I ever tried from their skincare range and it really impressed me! I started to find that as I got older my skin was begging for more than just hydration, but it wasn’t completelty dry either. So I thought incorporating an oil at nightime might help to fuel my skin up with the lipids it needs without making my skin more oily, and this product was perfect for that. Even if it didn’t end up working for me, I would’nt have been that mad because its only $10…

Those are all the thoughts and feelings I have for these empties.
Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, especially Revolution Skincare in particular because I’d love more recommendations!

Thanks for reading,
Lily & R.

  1. I tried the purple flower beauty spray and it was exactly as you described! However the hydrating one that you’ve got here, I had great success with. Sounds like it could be a dodgy manufacturing issue lol
